Start with the year, engine, drive and 4K package
For a 2024–2026 Maverick, “tows up to 4,000 lb” describes a properly equipped configuration. It does not describe every truck. A tow hitch, AWD or the word Hybrid is not enough to establish that rating.
The important year change is the hybrid. Ford’s 2024 table lists the Hybrid with front-wheel drive and a 2,000-lb maximum. For 2025 and 2026, a suitably equipped Hybrid AWD can reach 4,000 lb with the 4K Tow Package. Ask the dealer to show that package on the exact VIN.
| Model year and configuration | Published maximum | What must be present |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 Hybrid FWD | 2,000 lb | Do not apply the later Hybrid AWD specification |
| 2024 EcoBoost AWD with 4K | 4,000 lb | 4K Tow Package, option code 53Q |
| 2025 Hybrid or EcoBoost AWD with 4K | 4,000 lb | Eligible configuration and 4K Tow Package |
| 2026 Hybrid or EcoBoost AWD with 4K | 4,000 lb | 4K Tow Package, option code 53Q |
| 2026 without 4K | 2,000 lb | AWD alone does not raise the limit |

Open a current Maverick and ask about its tow package
Photos and links come from current dealer listings. Examples leave this guide when they no longer meet its checks; confirm availability and unresolved details with the selling dealer.
2026 Ford Maverick XLT

Open the truck’s gallery, then request its window sticker, package record and load labels before choosing it for your trailer.
The 4K Tow Package and this VIN’s towing limits have not been verified. Year, engine, AWD or a hitch alone do not establish a 4,000-lb rating.

2024 Ford Maverick XL
41,291 mi · AWD · Gasoline
Open the truck’s gallery, then request its window sticker, package record and load labels before choosing it for your trailer.
The 4K Tow Package and this VIN’s towing limits have not been verified. Year, engine, AWD or a hitch alone do not establish a 4,000-lb rating.
Ask for a document, then check the truck
Request the original window sticker or a Ford equipment record for the VIN. Look for the named 4K Tow Package. In Ford’s 2024 and 2026 towing guides its option code is 53Q. A seller’s “tow package” shorthand needs that clarification.
Then request current photos of the hitch label, trailer connector and brake-controller controls. Ford’s 2026 package list includes a 4-/7-pin connector, a Class III receiver and a trailer brake controller, along with equipment that varies by powertrain. Photos support the document check. One visible component does not establish the complete factory package.
If equipment has been added or replaced, ask what changed and have Ford confirm the implications for this VIN. Do not treat an aftermarket receiver’s rating as a new rating for the truck.

Compare your loaded trailer, not its empty brochure weight
Start with the trailer as you will use it: water, batteries, tools, camping gear and anything else carried inside. Separately list the people and cargo going in the truck. Send that information to the dealer when asking about suitability.
Trailer rating, payload and combined vehicle-and-trailer limits answer different questions. Ford’s guide says cargo, accessories and passengers affect maximum towing. Have the dealer identify this truck’s load limits and explain how the planned load fits them. Do not subtract the trailer’s empty weight from 4,000 and call the remainder usable cargo.
Keep your viewing practical. Try the driving position, check whether the truck fits your parking space, and measure the bed against the items you regularly carry. The right tow package does not settle those everyday questions.

Do not substitute an off-road badge for the towing check
Ford’s 2024 towing table lists the Tremor configuration at 2,000 lb. An off-road package and a higher trailer rating are separate things. For another year or special version, read that version’s towing information rather than carrying a figure across from a different Maverick.
Save the VIN, the seller’s package evidence and any unresolved questions together. A truck with an unanswered package question can stay on your investigation list, but it should not become your confirmed towing option.
Send this before making the trip
“For VIN [VIN], please send the window sticker or Ford equipment record showing whether it has the 4K Tow Package. Could you also send current photos of the hitch label, connector, brake controller and door-jamb load labels? My trailer weighs [loaded weight], and I expect [passengers and cargo] in the truck. Please confirm the applicable limits and whether this VIN is available to view.”
Choose “View this car” to see a truck’s gallery and full listing. Choose “Ask about the tow package” to open that truck’s dealer form, paste your question and send it with your preferred contact details. The examples update as inventory changes. If none are available, use the Maverick search link and apply the same checks.

Help me find a 2024–2026 Ford Maverick near my US ZIP code. Ask for my trailer’s loaded weight and the people and cargo I plan to carry.
