The Hybrid has a repair kit, not a factory compact spare
For the US 2026 CR-V, Honda lists a compact spare for the gasoline LX, EX and EX-L. The Sport Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid use a tire repair kit instead. That is a practical difference if you regularly drive far from roadside help.
A kit is not a spare wheel in a different package. Honda’s manual says a large cut or severe damage requires towing. Before choosing a Hybrid, decide whether that recovery plan works for your usual routes.

Honda’s 14 October 2026 notice includes certain 2023–2026 CR-V Hybrids in a tire-repair-kit recall. It describes incorrect components mixed into parts supplied for an earlier remedy. Ask a Honda dealer to check the current VIN record even if the seller says a previous kit recall was completed.
The notice calls for inspection and replacement of the nozzle as necessary. It does not mean every CR-V Hybrid is affected. None of the examples below has been independently cleared for recalls by Car Handshake.

Three things to inspect under the cargo floor
Ask the dealer to show the kit and readable sealant expiry date, then confirm that all components required by the manual are present. For a used car, do not assume the previous owner left the kit untouched.
Honda excludes situations such as sidewall damage, expired sealant and more than one punctured tire from kit use. Keep the correct manual and roadside-assistance details accessible. This is a buying checklist, not instructions to attempt a roadside repair.
If carrying a spare is non-negotiable
Compare a gasoline CR-V with its listed spare, or ask Honda and a qualified tire professional about a compatible, securely carried spare arrangement for the exact Hybrid. Do not assume a wheel sold as “fits CR-V” fits every year, brake package or storage space.
