Methodology and limitations
Coverage is limited to participating dealerships publishing to CarHandshake.com. It is not a census of vehicles or dealerships in the United States or Canada; Quebec is not supported.
One database statement counts every eligible canonical website car offer in the selected country. Website-only identity normalization, quality exclusions and physical-offer deduplication apply before aggregation. Motorcycles, RVs, trailers and other vehicle types are excluded.
Dealer groups and rooftops are distinct published account and location IDs. Separate account/location IDs can represent the same physical business. Regional counts follow the listing rooftop state or province, not shopper demand or registrations. UNSPECIFIED means the source did not provide a region.
Median advertised price uses all positive published prices in the country’s native currency, with the midpoint of the two middle prices for an even count. Missing prices are excluded, not treated as zero. Prices come from the provider or, when the dealer opts in and supplies a fee schedule, list price plus its mandatory fees. Do not assume fees are excluded or independently verified. This is not a negotiated transaction total; confirm taxes, licensing, registration and all charges with the seller.
Photo coverage means a primary photo URL was supplied, not that the image was independently verified. Updated within seven days measures source-row changes up to the snapshot time, not a freshness or availability guarantee. Newest and oldest updates describe the range across the selected set.
