Some Model Ys have a third row. The name alone will not tell you.
For the used 2020–2024 US Model Y covered here, Tesla’s manual describes five-seat and seven-seat configurations. The seven-seat car adds two third-row places. If you need those extra seats, ask for a photo with both of them raised before making an appointment.
The cards below select cars whose dealer data reports seven seats. That is a useful starting point; it is not a promise that every passenger or child seat will fit. Open the gallery, confirm the cabin, then arrange to try your real seating plan.
| What matters | Five-seat car | Seven-seat car |
|---|---|---|
| Layout | Two rows; three places in row two | Three rows; two extra places at the back |
| Second-row adjustment | Reclining seat backs | Seat backs recline; the bench also slides forward and back |
| Third-row access | No third row | Access through the second row; test it with your family’s arrangement |
| Evidence to request | Full cabin photo | Both rear seats raised, then cargo space behind them |

Will adults fit? Test the whole cabin, not just the back seat.
There is no useful universal height cutoff we can give you. Legroom depends on how the people in front position their seats, and comfort depends on the passenger. Bring the people who will use the third row, especially if it is for regular journeys rather than an occasional lift.
Set the front seats for the actual driver and passenger first. Next, settle the second-row passengers and try the third row. Check headroom, foot space, seat-belt fit and getting in and out without moving everyone else’s setup. Follow Tesla’s seat-positioning and head-support instructions.
Finally, put your stroller or usual bags behind the raised third row. A photo of a flat load floor with all the seats folded does not answer whether seven people and your weekend luggage can travel together.
Can a child seat go in the third row?
Tesla’s 2020–2024 North American manual says the seven-seater’s third row has no lower LATCH anchors and specifies seat-belt-retained child restraints there. Do not plan a lower-anchor installation in those positions.
That does not establish that your particular restraint fits. Bring its model name and instructions, check the vehicle manual’s belt and tether directions, and try the permitted installation before choosing the car. If you are unsure, get help from a qualified child-passenger-safety technician.
Also try the access route with the restraints installed. Tesla warns against using the second-row ingress control while a child occupies a seat that will move. A convenient empty-car demonstration may not represent your school run.

Send: “I’m interested in VIN [VIN] and need seven seats. Please send current photos showing both third-row seats raised, the second row and the cargo space with all seven seats available. Is the car physically at your location? Can I bring my child seats and stroller to check the fit?”
Once the layout works, check the rest of the car: condition, service records, charging equipment and remaining warranty. Seven seats tell you nothing about the included FSD package. If that matters, use the separate software-screen checklist below.

Help me find a used 2020–2024 Tesla Model Y in the US with listing-level evidence of seven seats. Ask for my ZIP code and travel radius. Keep five-seat cars separate, and help request current cabin photos. Do not infer FSD entitlement or child-seat compatibility from seating or trim.
