Compare the boot with everyone aboard
For the US 2026 models, Toyota lists 16.0 cubic feet behind the Highlander’s third row and 20.6 cubic feet behind the Grand Highlander’s. If every row will be occupied, that is the useful starting comparison. Maximum cargo volume with rows folded answers a different question.
The Grand Highlander gives you more published cargo volume in this arrangement. It still does not prove your stroller fits or your tallest passenger will be comfortable. Check both on the car you are considering.

Test entry and exit with your real seating arrangement
Set the driver’s seat first, then the second row where your passengers need it. Only then try row three. Check foot space, head clearance and how the intended passenger gets in and out.
If child restraints occupy the second row, check access with those restraints correctly installed. A photograph of an empty aisle is not evidence that your family can use it. Follow the manuals for installation and seat movement.
Load the stroller before folding anything
Start with every required seat upright. Put in the stroller, then the bags you normally carry. Close the liftgate without forcing it and check rear visibility. If a required seat must be folded to finish loading, that configuration does not meet the trip you are planning.
Ask for an open-tailgate photo with row three up before making the drive. If the dealer sends a picture with both rear rows folded, ask again. That picture cannot answer your question.
Choose the viewing around the problem you need to solve
If you only occasionally use row three, try the regular Highlander and your parking space first. If row three and luggage are a daily combination, put the Grand Highlander on the same viewing list. These are comparison priorities, not a claim that one car fits every family.
